New Atlantic performed a comprehensive renovation of the historic Withers Hall. This facility was originally an old chemistry laboratory.

This project required an aggressive project schedule and there was no lay-down area for construction staging, so this project required our firm to provide critical phasing and coordination to allow for pedestrian traffic.

Large amounts of asbestos were found throughout the building; our team maintained the required levels of safety and performed asbestos abatement with no issues.

New Atlantic removed interior structural concrete slabs. Existing underground acid and terra-cotta piping were found during the plumbing system installation. Concealed structural members where encountered above the ceiling that required some redesign of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-in.

The exterior restoration was a large part of the renovation and included granite and marble facade dating back to 1917. We worked carefully to restore the original aesthetic features while maintaining and repairing the structural integrity.
