A high profile and community sensitive project, since the original school was built in the 1920s by the sons of Nancy Reynolds as a tribute to their mother’s dedication to Stokes County and the strong educational values it involved. New Atlantic performed demolition of the existing school, renovated the 1950s gym, and constructed this new school to closely resemble the original school. The building is a combination of load bearing masonry walls, structural steel frame, and a light gauge metal truss roof with shingles
and brick exterior.

“On behalf of the Davie County Board of Education, our staff, and community, I want to thank New Atlantic Contracting for all you have done to make our dream become a reality. The new Davie County High School opened in August 2017 on time and within budget. New Atlantic’s commitment to quality and excellence from beginning to completion resulted in a high school that is a beacon in our community and model school facility in our state. Your team at New Atlantic worked with our leadership team, project manager, architect, engineers, and all of your sub contractors with precision. Every time we called to ask a question or share a challenge, your team was there to answer and resolve. Your team’s effective communication through job site meetings and regular updates always kept us aware of progress milestones, schedules, and what to expect next on the site. This excellent communication resulted in a partnership and open dialogue that is better than any school project I have ever experienced.”

“We had a difficult timeline, starting in the middle of winter, with formidable schedule challenges to get both a 3-story load bearing masonry structure and a mile-long road built within that time frame…the project team was able to provide substantial completion as scheduled so the Owner could move in furniture and get the students their seats on schedule…this is always a victory with K-12 educational facilities. I was duly impressed with the team’s attention to detail throughout the project (WCPSS Bryan Road Elementary School).”
