Senior Estimator

Description

The Senior Estimator is responsible for fully managing all estimating responsibilities for individual projects up to $60M+. This role involves the solicitation of trade contractors, development of estimates, quantity surveying of all scopes of work, knowledge of material and labor unit costs, value engineering analysis, and bid form assembly.

Duties and Responsibilities

Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine the scope-of-work and required contents of the estimate. Provide complete conceptual (or bid work) and final estimating input on complex projects. Provide technical support to personnel preparing discipline estimates for assigned bids. Prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete take-off of scope-work. Perform value engineering analysis and constructability review. Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures. Understand and produce high-level project schedules. Thoroughly evaluate trade contractor bids. Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc., into unit and manhour figures. Perform additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications

A four-year engineering degree or an equivalent combination of technical training and/or experience. Five to eight years of estimating, controls, and/or engineering experience (at least four years of estimating experience) in similar facility construction. Thorough knowledge of company procedures, estimating techniques, all engineering disciplines, cost control systems, and accounts. Ability to estimate all types of projects/contracts. Ability to coordinate and supervise group work efforts.
