New Atlantic: Built on Trust.
In 2002, a close-knit group of experienced engineers and construction managers made a decision that would define everything that came after: they walked away from business as usual and started something of their own, built on a simple belief that construction projects don't have to be painful.
Not for clients. Not for designers. Not for the people doing the work.
That belief became New Atlantic.
The founding team had worked together for years. They knew each other's strengths, trusted each other's judgment, and shared a frustration with how too many projects ended, over budget, over schedule, and over the patience of everyone involved.
So, they set out to do it differently.
Not with a flashy pitch or a wall of credentials, but with something quieter and more durable: a commitment to doing things the right way, every single time. To following through. To treating every client relationship like it was the only one that mattered.
It turns out, that's a harder thing to fake than most people realize, and clients noticed.
Over the next two decades, New Atlantic grew steadily. The projects got larger and more complex. The team expanded. The portfolio stretched across healthcare, education, civic infrastructure, historic preservation, housing, and more.
But the culture that started in 2002, the one built on integrity, communication, and genuine care for the people involved in every project, that never changed.
Part of why is the way we're structured. New Atlantic is employee-owned. That means the people managing your project aren't just doing a job; they have a real stake in the outcome. When a project succeeds, everyone feels it. When something's hard, everyone works to solve it. Ownership changes how you show up.
We believe buildings are more than structures. They're where students learn, where patients heal, where communities gather, where families live. The work we do shapes people's lives long after the last nail is driven.
That's not a responsibility we take lightly.
Trust is the foundation of everything we do. We say what we mean, follow through on what we promise, and tell you the truth even when it's uncomfortable.
People are what actually build things, not machines, not processes. We invest in our team, support our subcontractors, and treat every person on a project as a partner in its success.
Collaboration is how we solve hard problems. Our clients and designers come back to us because they know we listen, adapt, and find creative solutions instead of defaulting to "that's not our problem."
Community is why we build. The structures we construct define neighborhoods, serve cities, and improve everyday life. We're proud to be part of that.
More than twenty years in, New Atlantic is still the company it set out to be, just with a longer track record and a deeper bench.
We've completed projects across virtually every sector: schools built on impossible timelines, healthcare facilities that couldn't afford a single day of delay, historic buildings given new life without losing what made them worth saving, and civic spaces that brought communities together.
New Atlantic has earned the trust of architects, school districts, municipalities, healthcare systems, and private owners across North Carolina, many of whom have come back to us again and again.
And every project, no matter the size or complexity, still gets the same thing from us: honest communication, genuine commitment, and a team that shows up like they own the place.
Because they do.
