New Atlantic was selected as the construction-manager-at-risk, along with the architect C design, Inc., to renovate this 122,461 SF, 3-story facility and add an 8,880 SF addition on the campus of UNC Charlotte.

The McLeansville Readiness Center is a 100,000‑square‑foot facility constructed on a 65‑acre campus for the North Carolina National Guard. Designed to serve as a regional hub, the Readiness Center allows multiple armories and units from across the state to consolidate onto a single campus, improving operational efficiency and strengthening coordination. The facility supports both Guard operations and community needs and includes classrooms, administrative offices, an assembly hall, a kitchen, and a fitness area. The Readiness Center was constructed using CMU bearing wall systems on continuous footings, with steel beams and joists supporting the roof structure. The building envelope consists of brick cavity walls, spray foam insulation, and a combination of metal and TPO roofing systems. A full building generator was included to support continued operations during local emergencies.

Located on the same campus, New Atlantic delivered a separate project consisting of the Field Maintenance Shop and associated storage facilities. This project includes a 30,000‑square‑foot Field Maintenance Shop, two 10,000‑square‑foot storage buildings, and a guard house. The Field Maintenance Shop is a prototype facility featuring six service bays designed to service Military Owned Vehicles from surrounding armories. These facilities were constructed using CMU bearing walls, steel framing, brick cavity wall systems, spray foam insulation, and metal and TPO roofing. The Field Maintenance Shop is also equipped with a full building generator to ensure operational continuity during emergencies.

Although delivered as separate projects, both required extensive coordination of heavy sitework, major utility infrastructure, military security requirements, and overlapping construction activities across the shared campus, which also includes a one‑mile perimeter running track and an artificial turf Army Combat Fitness Test field.
